Aaron Pena is defending his defection to the Republican Party by saying it gives Hidalgo County "a seat at the table". Where was Hidalgo County before? In the parking lot?
More than likely it was standing at the table fighting for its share of help.
Pena also said it was not about party affiliation but about helping/and representing his community. Hmmm. Did they elect a Republican or a Democrat? They elected a Democrat.
Of oourse Pena does not have the guts to resign and run in a special election as a Republican. He wants to preserve his political life. He runs for re-election in 2012.
We will see if he will still be a GOP zebra then. Or maybe he will sniff the winds and decide to come back to the Democratic Party?
Aaron Pena going over to the Republicans is like Tony Romo quarterbacking the Dallas Cowboys in a game against the Washington Redskins and then after half time deciding he wants to be a Redskin then and there!
