THE MONITOR CAT
Did THE MONITOR CAT BITE THE DUST? A white cat was seen crossing Jackson Road yesterday morning. It was hit by a vehicle and may have survived because it was gone when one of the employees checked it out.
Hopefully, it survived! ONE of our friends at the paper says the cat routinely visits for scraps.

DAVIS RANKIN PINCH HITTER
DAVIS RANKIN was pinch hitting for the Nut Job...I mean Sergio Sanchez on KURV's Saturday morning talk show. I think the Whining Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck clone was off because it might have been his birthday or something!
Davis Rankin used to work for KURV. His contract had not been renewed. I suppose it was quite amicable because there he was on the air. Rankin was an original. Some would say he was borderline boring but FAIR.
He is not a BASHER.
Mr. Rankin says he heard a Fox News reporter state that a swath of the Rio Grande Valley is run controlled by a Mexican drug cartel! Wow! Talk about a big bad lie! What is Fox News smoking?
A bunch of knuckleheads!

THREE STRIKE FORCES TARGET FRAUD IN HOME HEALTH CARE DMES AND ADULT DAY CARE COMPANIES
Three strike forces have been conducting fraud investigations in the Home Health field, adult daycares, and DME companies. (DME-durable medical equipment)
One Home health outfit laid off 20 nurses. Another one laid off 200.
One Rio Grande Valley home healtcare firm closed down 9 offices.
NEW guidelines should thin out many in the herd of the three industries.
A lot of nurses will be out of jobs.
The big companies will survive. The small ones will close if they cannot show profit.
Let us hope that the elderly will not suffer because of a few bad apples.
